Sydney Water appoints Brooke to drive capability boost
Sydney Water has appointed Brooke to lead the implementation of their new capability model. Brooke will draw upon its established capability model framework to affect an enterprise-wide shift in Sydney Water’s work culture.
Sydney Water provides water services to more than 4.6 million people in Sydney and the surrounding area. Traditionally an infrastructure-oriented organisation, Sydney Water has struggled to keep up with today’s fast-paced and competitive business landscape.
A year ago, Brooke successfully implemented Melbourne Water’s new capability model. Since then, Melbourne Water has evolved significantly, becoming more customer-centric and aligned with their staff’s capabilities.
Like Melbourne Water, Sydney Water’s vision is to equip their workforce with long-term strategic goals and capabilities. Brooke’s structured methodology, fast delivery and tangible results with Melbourne Water immediately struck Sydney Water’s interest.
“Brooke’s methodology was the most structured we saw,” said Ken Wiggins, Executive of Sydney Water’s Strategic Projects. “Brooke clearly offered the best combination of capability, methodology and cost.”
Having worked on projects for Visser & Smit Hanab in the Netherlands and APMG international in the UK, Brooke is a recognised global leader in designing and implementing capability models that address complex changes in the business landscape.
Brooke’s Managing Director, Lester Doecke, said that Brooke’s competency assessments are specifically structured to include cultural change.
“Our capability model incorporates behaviour-oriented ‘soft’ factors, not just technical factors,” he said. “With Sydney Water, we’re taking people and performance management to the next level.”
“We’re designing a new capability model that will create a ‘cultural intervention’ for Sydney Water’s leadership and staff. Our applied methodology will accurately and reliably assess the knowledge, skills and experience of staff at a micro-level, on a person-to-person basis.”
The project continues to deliver Sydney Water great success.
